“THROUGH THE LENS OF AUTISM” – A book of poetry.
When a young autistic adult shares their most personal perspectives and their thoughts, struggles and insights, it’s a courageous gift to the world, in addition to being an incredible act of selflessness.
In baring one’s soul and impacting others by creating a written legacy, purely in the interests of autism advocacy and to help others further understand you, it’s a very beautiful thing indeed.
To gain from this most valuable perspective and to learn from actually autistic adults, is undoubtedly a necessary part of any acceptance journey for us. We cannot exclude the experiences of autistic adults!
As caregiving parents, I know your time is valuable and so scarce. This is why I invite you to spend some time reading with me, from autistic authors, in a way that can work with your own schedules. I must admit, that I struggle myself to find time; reading a lengthy book means I must commit to finding the time!
Quite by coincidence, I came across another option; this delightful book of poetry by CWJ Catsanos. This is an effortless, informative, and fascinating read! Each poem covers relevant topics and teaches us beautifully. From autistic brains, burnout, communication, dysregulation, disorganization, treasures, showing love, masking, special interests, and much more…it’s all beautifully explained.
The author challenges us to adjust OUR ways of doing things, OUR behaviours, OUR ableist attitudes, and OUR patterns of thinking. We are encouraged to let go of antiquated beliefs and existing stigmas. Only then, can we claim to fully accept autism and our loved ones as they truly are.
It’s my privilege to share this opportunity with you today. How appropriate this is for the month of April.
Please join me in supporting autistic voices by purchasing a copy at our link in our bio, or leave a comment for me for more details.
Happy reading!
